About: Yarra Ranges Health

(as a relative),

My relative goes to Yarra Ranges Health for their intravenous drugs for their illness and we were told by a staff member that an office worker tested positive for the Coronavirus.

We want to know why we weren't told so both of us can have a test and why didn't the place close down for cleaning? My relative is very scared to go there now for their treatment and I have also been there and now I am worried that I could get sick. I feel it's not fair that this hasn't been told to all people that enter the hospital in case they want to have a test or protect their families.

In my opinion, Eastern Health has failed us by not telling us about the positive office worker.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments regarding your experience when attending Eastern Health’s Yarra Ranges Health in Lilydale.

I would like to apologise that you were provided with this message as it appears to only be part of the situation. Whilst a staff member did test positive, our specialist infection control contact tracing team confirmed there was no need for anything to be done within the workplace, and anyone who was deemed to be a close contact was directly contacted by them.

We understand these are very challenging times for everyone but please be assured if we needed to let people know in order to ensure their safety, we would do this.

If you have any further questions regarding this or require any clarification, could I please suggest your relative discuss this with their treating doctor when they see them next.

Thank you again and please continue to look after yourself and your relative as we make our way through these unprecedented times.
