About: St George Hospital / 1 South Maternity St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I am pregnant and started bleeding on a weekend. In my opinion, it is very disappointing that the antenatal care clinic only operates Mon - Fri. I had a checkup at emergency but I felt the service was average and in my opinion, the knowledge of staffs were limited regarding pregnancy complications.

Why can't such a big hospital as St George have antenatal care facility opened on weekends?

Dear puppispx53,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding your recent experience at St George Hospital Emergency Department. I was saddened to read of your disappointment with your treatment in ED.

St George Hospital offers a Monday to Friday Antenatal Clinic (ANC) service that runs from 8 am to 4:30 pm. This is in line with the Maternity Services within our district. The ANC operates by appointment only with all in hours and after-hours acute presentations being referred to other services dependent on the time of day and duration of pregnancy.

I was sorry to read that you felt the knowledge of staff regarding pregnancy complication was limited as SGH strives to provide an excellent service to all patients in our care. I would like to ask you to contact our Patient Experience Manager, on 9113 2687 if you would like to discuss your experience further.
