I would like to commend the amazing work the midwife team (particularly, Jane) has done so far in my pregnancy care. I am a first-time mum, over 30 weeks gestation and with the ever-changing landscape of COVID, they have been nothing short of supportive and informative.
In regards to my personal interactions, all our appointments have been warm, reassuring and supportive that has allowed me to have a smooth and relaxed pregnancy to date and the whole midwifery team need to be commended on this - no doubt it's not an easy feat I believe with elevated anxiety levels at the moment.
Initially, I had some feedback around the text message communications in regards to maternity and COVID restrictions, and how it felt abrupt. Jane took my feedback to her line manager and as a result, communication since then has been much more pleasant, so well done on rectifying this so quickly.
The only other feedback I would suggest for Eastern Health to consider is creating a 'virtual' tour of the maternity suites (at both hospitals). The website states the tours are still occurring https://www.easternhealth.org.au/services/maternity-services/i-am-pregnant/14-to-28-weeks/maternity-suite-tours/ yet I doubt this is the case.
I have never been in hospital, nor had the opportunity to visit the maternity ward and as a first-time parent, I feel this would be really valuable to know prior what to expect, where to go and what the birthing environment looks like.
