"My recovery journey"

About: Lives Lived Well - Logan Family Recovery

(as a service user),

I came to Logan Family Recovery (LFR) with my partner who was pregnant with our fourth child. I was sleeping in a tent before coming to LFR and I was very happy to be able to get a unit, as I was sick of living on the streets and using substances.

It all happened very quickly and when I arrived at the program I felt comfortable in my own unit with my partner and settled in very quickly. The program helped me create a good routine and I enjoyed the structure with groups, meetings, activities and rest/my own time. It would be great if the communal area was bigger and there were more communal facilities. The experience of doing rehab with my partner and newborn baby was great as it helped us get our lives on track and spend quality time together.

The program has also helped us work towards getting our own accommodation and having a support team when we complete the program. The program has also helped my main goal of working towards getting all three of my other children back in my care.

Dear moondj98,

Firstly apologies for the delay in responding. Your story is important to us, and I congratulate you on making the first step and getting yourself, partner and new baby into Logan Family Recovery!

Your goals to find routine without using, accommodation, and your other children back in your care is admirable. All journeys start somewhere and you have already made an amazing step towards achieving all you want.

Lives Lived Well wish you all the best for the future - and please get in touch should you need a bit more support.

Kind regards,

Lara McLaughlin, Quality Improvement Coordinator

Hello moondj98,

Thank you for your story about your experience of attending Lives Lived Well's Logan Family Units.

It sounds like you and your partner were at a place where you were ready for change and that the opportunity at Logan Family Units enabled you to do that. Having a place where you can develop structure and routine is a great foundation to be able to make the changes you are undertaking and to work towards your longer term goal of having all your children back with you.

Having your own accommodation will be a big part of achieving these goals and access to an ongoing support team will be an asset as you bring about these significant changes for yourself and your family.

I wish all the best in the days and weeks ahead.

Warm regards

Gerard
