The shower hose in the bathroom of room 6 on level 7 is a soft plastic that kinks easily and sprays hot water on the patient using it. While it may not cause 3rd-degree burns, I believe it gives the user a fright that could cause other problems such as a fall.
Recently, a patient was being assisted back to their bed. The patient stated several times to their helpers that they wanted to do the count to 3 so they were fully prepared for the painful move.
I believe the staff took no notice of the patient's request to do a 1,2,3 and put them on the bed. The patient let out a blood-curdling roar during the process that made me feel sick and angry. The procedure was going to cause them pain that I believe may have been lessened if they had felt in control of their journey.
In my opinion, once we are older, we apparently lose the right to be heard and respected in this often patronizing ageist world.
