About: Lives Lived Well – Wyla Residential Services (Orange)

(as a service user),

This place is not what I expected. It is much better. I did several residential rehabs in the 90s and 00s, so I had some pretty messed up ideas of what rehab was about. A decade may not sound like a lot of time, but I feel most rehabs back then used to try and use shame and fear to compel people to change. In my opinion, you would be told how defective you are and told that you can't do this alone and you need to join their specific cult whether that be a religion or a 12-step-fellowship (none of which worked for me, in fact they made me worse).

Wyla has done the exact opposite. They have encouraged me to find the skills within myself and build upon them to cope with life on life's terms. I have even managed to quit smoking with no craving, nicotine replacement therapy, cults or religion necessary.

Hello Optimus Prime,

Thank you for your story about your stay at Lives Lived Well's residential service Wyla in Orange NSW.

It is significant you had the courage to try another residential rehabilitation service when your previous experiences were not helpful for you. Ten years also allows room for lots of change. It is good to hear your recent experience at Wyla has turned this around. Instead, you have been able to find the type of support that is now working for you, enabling you to find the strength and skills within yourself to cope with what life presents to you each day. Well done for persevering.

I wish you all the best for your future journey.

Warm regards

Gerard
