"Negligence"

About: Angliss Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a friend),

Absolutely disgusted!

My partner went to the Angliss Hospital Emergency recently in excruciating pain due to their hernia playing up. 3 hrs later, they were seen to. They did a CT scan. The doctor then comes in and said they’re going to do emergency surgery, after a while they come back in and said that the surgeon is flat out tonight so they will leave it a few days. They then return again and said that because they're having the operation early next month, that they’ll just wait until then. So they just sent my partner home with a script for pain relief.

Now, this is the really, really bad bit. My partner has just received a call from their GP (late at night) saying to get back to the emergency because they have acute appendicitis! What the? The report the GP has I believe is the same as the report the hospital has... How were they sent home, let alone them not notice this? 🤬

So, hence now off to another hospital 😤

Dear branyy37,

Thank you so much for bringing your partner’s experience to our attention. I am very sorry it was not a positive experience and they experienced so many different plans of care. I trust your partner’s health has improved and my apologies you needed to attend a different hospital to act on the advice your partner’s GP provided.

I would like to make sure we review what has happened regarding not only your partner's experience but also their care. As such, I would like to invite your partner to contact one of our Patient Relations Advisors in the Eastern Health Centre for Patient Experience either by calling 1800 EASTERN or by emailing feedback@easternhealth.org.au. If your partner chooses to call please be aware that it is possible that the Patient Relations Advisors may be on another call at the time you ring and if so your partner will be invited to leave a message so they can return your partners call.

I hope we hear from them soon and thank you again.

Kind regards

David
