I was at Fiona Stanley Hospital as an inpatient for 33 days for TTP. I received excellent care and wanted to share my positive experience and say thank you.
Some of the standouts were:
(1) How encouraging the staff were, especially Darwin, the registered nurse in the Day Therapy Unit. When my platelet count was very low, he told me not to give up and reassured me things would get better. He told me I was in good hands with the best professional treatment possible.
(2) The staff had such a positive attitude in a difficult environment where everyone is sick.
(3) The Day Therapy Unit nursing staff had excellent teamwork. The team helped each other out so that I didn't have to wait or be uncomfortable.
(4) The doctors, pharmacists, nurses all worked together as one unit to provide me with what I felt was top-notch professional care. They were all on the same page about what was the best treatment for me, even when I had different consultants or nurses.
(5) The staff are all so committed to their work. Especially Marcus, one of my doctors, who seemed to be in the hospital seven days a week and never took a day off.
(6) Lastly I want to say thank you to Justin, the clinical nurse in the Day Therapy Unit, for treating me like a person and not a patient.
