Recently, I took my spouse to Karratha Health Campus as they had a slight dizzy spell. By the time we arrived at the hospital, they were experiencing chest and arm pain, blurry vision and were gagging. The Emergency Department staff reacted immediately and worked on them for approximately 2 hours in order to stabilise them enough to be transported to Perth by RFDS. At one point my spouse stopped breathing and CPR was performed, they were defibbed, I believe 5 times and their downtime was 13 minutes.
If not for the absolute dedication of these staff I don't believe my spouse would be here today. They were incredibly professional, caring and determined to give my spouse the best possible chance at survival. I cannot thank these people enough for all they did for my spouse that day and we will be forever grateful to them.
My spouse made it to Perth and an emergency triple bypass was performed. My spouse survived and continues to improve daily and as they're in their sixties we were not ready for them to leave us.
Thank you all, including the off duty Registered Nurse who initially advised us to go to the hospital for a check when they first felt ever so slightly dizzy. She felt his pulse and found it to be very low and suggested to be sure my spouse should go to the hospital for a thorough check.
