"Emergency Room"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was brought to the ER after choking on a piece of carrot which then got caught in my right lung. I was not in good shape, coughing and wheezing.

I was seen almost immediately by a doctor, sent for an x-ray and then CT scan. I was then taken upstairs to a private room. I was informed that I would be operated on the following morning which I was.

Everything went very well, I was monitored closely for a number of hours and late in the afternoon I was told I could go home.

My treatment was excellent, the doctors and nurses were very attentive and caring. My care was ten out of ten.

Thank you to all at Charlie Gardiner Hospital, a special thanks to Jillian, one of the doctors in ER, for her special warmth when it was needed.
