"Unprofessional conduct"

About: Cowes Phillip Island Health Hub

(as the patient),

I turned up at the Hub Cowes with foot trauma. I was sent for an ultrasound to an external ultrasound service provider because they were unsure if I had cut my Achilles. I went as requested.

When I was in the ultrasound room, the staff member attending me started bad-mouthing the staff at the hub saying that they don't know they're doing over there and are useless. The staff member asked me why they sent me for an ultrasound. The staff member did the ultrasound and said there was nothing wrong with the Achilles.

I then returned to the Hub with the report. A new doctor was now there and told me I had to be at Frankston hospital at a set time the next morning. I was then operated on and my Achilles was fixed. I can only thank the staff at the Cowes Hub for being so diligent.

I am very disappointed in this person that did my ultrasound with, in my opinion, their unprofessional manner and incorrect diagnosis.  I would like to know if there will be some follow up pls. Thx in anticipation.

Dear airjw64,

I am so pleased the BCH staff provided a positive experience and organised for your follow up surgery at Frankston so that your Achilles could be repaired.

I am so sorry that you were subjected to rudeness from the private Radiology provider on the Island. Unfortunately, we have no capacity to influence this external provider but I will make sure that I pass on your feedback, and I will ask the staff at the Hub to let patients know of other options that are available, even though they are some distance away. I am also excited to let you know that plans are underway for BCH to provide Radiology services in the coming years from the Hub.
