"Carer involvement"

About: Narrabeen Glades Care Community

(as a carer),

My parent was being transferred to Narrabeen Glades. I was told by the Manager that they would wait for me to take my parent to the new home, they didn't.

Based on my experience, in my opinion, this is the worst aged care facility because of the lack of care and consultation.

I was told nothing was wrong for a month. Then after insisting there were many times, I was told my parent needed surgery on their eye. I arranged for a surgeons appointment. I was then told to wait two weeks because of COVID-19.

My parent had an entropion and was at risk of a corneal ulcer and risk if blindness as their eyelashes were inside their eye. I had to go to the Safety Commissioner and the Regional Manager to get my parent out for the surgical appointment.

My parent had eye surgery done quickly.  It took weeks to have my parent seen about an issue with their eye. The care manager said it wasn't urgent but the surgeon booked my parent in straight away. I believe it was urgent.
