"Booking appointments"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I have been under the care of two departments at Fiona Stanley Hospital for 2 years. The staff are wonderful but the communication in admin is, in my opinion, woeful. I live regionally, so need time to organise public transport, accommodation etc prior to attending clinics.

I was recently informed I needed to attend personally in Perth by one telehealth meeting, so made the relevant bookings. When I was only 2 days away from travelling but still had not received any confirmation, I checked, only to be told the appt was cancelled until the New Year.

Given I live some 485kms away, not happy! When was I going to be notified - when I arrived?

I understand the need to change dates, but surely, I believe someone should have realised that regional patients need to be notified in advance?

Dear seriously inconvenienced,

I apologise for the lack of communication you received regarding your upcoming appointment change and the inconvenience caused with regards to your travel bookings. There are many reasons for clinic bookings to be changed, however, we do always hope to give patients as much notice as possible.

I encourage you to contact our Patient and Family Liaison service on 6152 4013 or FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au. This will enable us to investigate your particular situation further and hopefully provide you with more information.

Thank you and regards,

Neil Doverty
