With this being my first full-term pregnancy, I obviously had a lot of questions and the team in the MGP4 and MGP5 were very helpful. Although my midwife changed a couple of times due to staffing issues, I was allocated Lolita, who was great when I went into labour and made me feel very comfortable.
I felt very supported throughout and having someone to text and a friendly face, if I had any questions, was very comforting.
Unfortunately, following a very smooth pregnancy, after 18 hours in labour, my baby began struggling and the team at King Edwards Hospital were just incredible, including my anaesthetist who was with me pretty much until my baby was born.
Lolita put me at ease, as much as she could and explained she would be with me the entire time, which I really liked.
I wish we could’ve had a few more visits at home following my return home but I appreciate that there is only so much the midwives can do and I understand the workload is very high for them.
