"Hospital stay after surgery"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Acute Ward

(as the patient),

Had a total knee replacement a month ago. Hospital staff that attended to me were all amazing, the 4-bed ward was adequate but I felt the en-suite was quite small not allowing much room for movement for surgery patients with walkers etc. The one in room 5 medical wing had a broken shower rail which made it almost impossible to shower. In my opinion, this would have been a 10-minute job for a plumber/handyman to fix.

Dear ospreykk47,

I am so sorry that your experience was marred by our infrastructure - there is no reason a patient should endure a broken handrail. I will make sure that is attended to immediately and also work through why it wasn't fixed as soon as it happened.

The exciting news is that we are starting work now to build our new hospital which includes a 32-bed surgical ward. I can assure you that this new ward area is state of the art and has more room than our current ward areas.

I am pleased that your care made up for the infrastructure. I hope things are healing well and I genuinely thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback.

Yous with kindness,

Jan
