"Life long battle with alcohol addiction"

About: Alcohol and Drug Counselling - Caboolture (Lives Lived Well)

(as the patient),

I have had a long term battle with alcohol. Up until 8 years ago I was a functioning alcoholic but age, illness and stress have changed that. Over the past 4 years, I have received inpatient treatment twice, numerous professionals and hospital admissions. I was referred to Lives Lived Well by my GP. Due to covid, it started out as zoom calls but on their recommendation, I went to see a counsellor face to face. It hasn't been easy but I have found these sessions to be very informative and educational more so than anything else I have tried. It is a firm but fair approach and has just clicked with me. I am by no means out of the woods as I navigate a plethora of emotions and comments from friends, family and strangers.

I am able to cope better due to the strategies suggested to me by the counsellor. I would highly recommend this organisation for anyone struggling and thinking all treatments are the same. I believe you have to persist in order to achieve a result that you are happy with.

It is good to hear that the strategies suggested to you by the counsellor have made a difference for you and enabled you to cope in a better way. I will pass on your comments to the Caboolture Team.

Kind regards,

Gerard
