My stay at Busselton Hospital was carried out most respectful by the nurses who deserve to be appreciated more than they are. Their level of attention and care was excellent. 

However, the system of discharge, in my opinion, lets everyone down. Your circumstances and well being I believe are not taken into consideration - just they need the bed, off you go. 

I have no family where I live and was not up to looking after myself fully. I requested 1 more day in order to arrange family help which was refused.

They have put in place services starting soon which will be appreciated. As I have just lost my spouse, I also needed time (1 day) to quickly arrange transport and support at home.

Thank you for your positive comments in relation to the nursing staff, I will ensure that these are fed back to the team. It is disappointing, however, to read that you felt that you were discharged too soon, but I really appreciate that you have brought this to our attention. Our aim is to always ensure patients are discharged in a safe manner, with adequate support systems and resources in place. I would really like to have one of our senior nurses discuss this further with you so that we can look at this in more detail for both your safety, and the safety of all of our patients. I would encourage you to please call the hospital on 9753 6000, Monday to Friday between 0730 and 1330 to request to speak to the Hospital Coordinator at your earliest convenience.
