"Staff attention"

About: Cobden Health Residential Care

(as a relative),

My relative is in Lovely Banks at Cobden Health Care. I believe they are often left long periods unattended, in my opinion, bordering upon neglect.

There seems to be no Registered nursing staff or Enrolled Nurses and minimal Personal Care Attendants. In my opinion, it seems like the facility is trying to cut costs by understaffing. I believe kitchen staff often work for free or are permanent part-time for minimal hours but not paid casual wages or any extra for working overtime or double shifts or extra shifts.

I understand there are no casual staff and people work above their contract hours for no extra or free. My relative says that the staff close their door to ignore the calls for help with toileting.

Every second night is toasted sandwiches which, in my opinion, becomes mundane and boring.

Dear Neglect,

Thank you for raising your concerns, as an organisation we take such issues very seriously and I would like to invite you to attend an in-person meeting in order to avail us more information in order to conduct a complete and thorough investigation. To organise this, you may contact our reception on 03 5595 3100.

In addition to this, I can confirm with you that our staffing complement ensures Registered and/or Enrolled nursing attendance on-site at all times. All of our staff are awarded employment contracts and are remunerated in line with the relevant Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.

I have passed on your feedback regarding meal options; these are regularly reviewed by our Hotel Services team to ensure that each and every meal provides the nutritional content that the resident requires and also ensures that our residents have a choice in the meals that they enjoy.

Kind Regards,

Evan Hill

Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing
