Firstly, I’d like to say that though this is a complaint, it is no way a reflection of any of the staff who were all completely amazing, it is rather a flaw in the system that, in my opinion, must be as frustrating for them to deal with as it was for me as a patient.
My procedure was a quick one ... 20 mins, yet I was left in the waiting room nil by mouth for 5 plus hours in what I think can only be described as the most uncomfortable chairs in all of design history! Only to be called in to wait a further 3 hours!
As I’d been waiting so long it gave me cause to chat to the other patients so I was aware that those that went ahead of me were having more lengthy procedures that meant they were required to overnight & another patient after me was in for virtually the same quick surgery as me.
In my opinion, it honestly makes no sense to have us quick ones last on a surgical list languishing tired, hungry, thirsty & uncomfortably for such a long time & I feel we should have been first up to be able to recover in the comfort of our own homes.
I feel that getting home so late, in the early evening has been detrimental to my well being & recovery for my ability to return to normal activities including work in a timely manner.
I can only hope that this was something that was being trialled & if so, I feel strongly that it needs to be reverted back asap for the betterment of those that come after me & for the staff!
