In late 2020 I started feeling numbness in my left leg. After the numbness also affected my right leg and my hands I went to see my GP who immediately referred me to a Neurologist.
After some tests and scans (MRI) I saw my Neurologist again right before Christmas. As the symptoms had gotten worse the Neurologist admitted me to Prince of Wales Hospital in the care of his Registrar.
Immediately a number of scans and blood tests were done and I was looked after by a Hospital Neurosurgeon and some very good and kind Nurses. As the test result started coming in my Neurologist and the Hospital Neurologist kept me informed what and why certain tests were done and what the results were. The team of Doctors decided based on the scans and tests on a treatment plan starting in Hospital and continuing at home.
During my stay at the hospital I was visited by an Occupational Therapist who advised me to go and see them once I was discharged from hospital. They called me shortly after I was discharged and I set up a Therapy session with a very knowledgeable and friendly Therapist. The finger exercise she showed me were very helpful to regain the strength and control of my fingers.
As this was my first major health issue I was amazed how good the care and the coordination between the different care providers was.
Thank you to all the staff at Prince of Wales Hospital, Nurses, Doctors and all the other staff involved with my care.
