Earlier this year, I turned up at Augusta Hospital with a swelling in the lower part of my abdomen. The doctor, paramedics and nurses went into action.
The next thing I remember is being in an ambulance with 2 ambos (volunteers?), the ambulance was old (like me); unlined, all the wiring and gauges clearly visible. I was awakened by lots of noise - we were at the Bunbury Hospital at the start of the pandemic situation!
I missed all this excitement not waking up till the next day after my operation! The medics had removed a portion of my digestive tract in which there was an actively growing tumour. My only memory is of bright yellow, green and blue lights weaving in and out above me!
With a change in the COVID shut down, I was returned to Augusta and again given excellent care in all aspects of my health. This experience has shown me how lucky I am to live in Augusta, a small country town. I believe more city W. Australians are moving to small towns which, in my opinion, need hospitals like Augusta.
"Excellent care in all aspects"
