My son had a serious eye injury that occurred at school just over 2 years ago. We picked him up from school and took him to the emergency department for treatment. He was treated here before going to the eye and ear hospital in the city.
Unfortunately, he lost his sight in the injured eye. He went to see a specialist recently to evaluate his injury. When given the scenario of what had happened he was very impressed with the care he had received at Wonthaggi. He said it was unheard of for small regional hospitals to deal with the injury so well and although his sight could not be saved (have been advised that damage was done on impact and nothing could save his sight) the care taken probably saved him from losing his eye.
I would like to thank the staff involved for their care and willingness to treat with the guidance from the specialists at the eye and ear hospital.
