"Dismissed from Emergency Department"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I went in complaining of static heart rate and pulsating pain, the nurse did not take my name rather they decided to tell me I have anxiety and that I should go home. Let’s not mention that there was no inquiry about my direct family's heart disease nor stroke. I would never go back to this department, I’ve never felt so dismissed in my life.

Dear 123nx94,

I do appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us.

I am very sorry to hear that you felt dismissed by staff when you presented to the Emergency Department, and that your family history was not discussed. Please accept my sincere apology for this.

Without additional details, I am unable to comment further about your specific circumstances. I encourage you to contact the Consumer Engagement Unit on 9224 1637, 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday or email RPBG.Feedback@health.wa.gov.au to discuss your concerns.

I would like to reassure you that your feedback has been passed on to senior nursing and medical staff to discuss with their teams. Royal Perth Bentley Group are reviewing the complaints, Care Opinion stories and other feedback about the emergency department to guide service improvement.
