(as a parent/guardian),

My child has abdominal pain and we came to emergency room fearing appendicitis. Triage nurse rated the case as 3 - urgent which in my opinion, should be seen by a doctor within 30 minutes. We came into the emergency department late in the night and it was now the early hours of the morning as I am writing my story - no sign of any movement. Really disappointed with the lack of care and urgency in emergency department.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience when you and your child attended the Emergency Department at Eastern Health’s Box Hill Hospital.

I'm sorry it was not a positive experience and you felt the care and communication was lacking. Our Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility but based on your feedback some of these values were not as strong as we would all like them to be.

I understand some pain relief was provided to your child while you were waiting, however, due to the very high demands within the Emergency Department we were not able to provide care to your child in a timely way.

I hope your child’s health has improved and they received the care they needed. I will provide your feedback to the Emergency Department leaders so they can use your experience as a learning and improvement opportunity.
