"Help for my relative"

About: Kimberley Country Health Service

(as a relative),

I went to see a certain staff member at the Balgo Clinic, they were visiting Balgo from Broome Mental Health.

I organised to meet this staff member with my relative and an elder of the same gender from the community to try and get my relative to understand that they need a shower having not had one nor a change of clothes for eight months.

The staff member said they would come and do a mental health assessment on my relative. Everyone turned up except for this staff member.

We have spoken to this staff member on several occasions requesting assistance with my relative. But in my opinion, this staff member doesn't seem to be interested.

My relative is on an NDIS plan and we have spoken with the NDIS providers and the clinic but I feel no one wants to help us. My relative is making us sick with scabies and skin infections and we do not know who can turn to for help.

Dear cepheuscz35,

I am very sorry to read your story and hear how you feel let down by the service provided by Kimberley Mental Health & Drug Service.

As it is important that your relative and anyone else who is affected by scabies and skin infections receives care and follow up treatment, can I please encourage your relative and any other people who are affected to attend the Balgo Clinic for treatment.

We would also really like to investigate what has happened and make sure your relative receives the care and follow up treatment they might need. We would also like to support you and your relative in relation to the concerns you have raised regarding NDIS. So that we can help you with this, we would appreciate it if you could contact our office in Kununurra on 9166 4350 and ask for Steve Lowes. Steve will be able to help you further.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion and for providing us with the opportunity to improve the services we provide.

I do hope we hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Andra Woods
