My 91 year old grandmother presented to Fiona Stanley Hospital from her nursing home late on one evening in March with a serious cardiac condition. Her care from ED to the cardiology unit and pacemaker insertion to her discharge less than 24 hours after presentation was fantastic.
I would like to make special mention to nurse Sinead in CCU who, I felt, provided the most kind and considerate care to my grandmother despite her level of confusion and frustration (which I know made her quite difficult to manage at times). She ensured that my grandmother was treated with the dignity and compassion she deserved at the same time as reassuring that she was safe and in the right place. As a healthcare worker myself, I know that people with dementia are often misunderstood and difficult to care for but I feel Sinead went the extra mile to ensure my grandmother received the best care possible.
Thank you again!
