I was lucky to be placed into the care of the Midwife Group Practice 5 (MGP5) for my pregnancy and birth at King Edward Memorial Hospital. My midwife Sarah was assigned to my pregnancy care until the birth of our baby girl. This continuity of care was critical as she made me feel well informed every step of the way. Sarah was organised, caring and a great listener. It was also great to know that she was only a phone call or SMS away.
Due to major placenta previa, I had to go through c section rather than natural birth. She remained supportive and was there at the operating room.
I got to see her again with my home visits after birth which was lovely. I really valued the information she passed on with tips and tricks in managing new routines with a newborn. In my opinion, this is not something you can obtain via googling. It represents her wealth of knowledge, passion and life experience of being a midwife and a mother herself.
I absolutely loved my experience and would 100% go back into that program.
I also highly valued her continuity throughout the experience. I hope that this arrangement can be permanent in this hospital.
