"Partner needed specialist care"

About: Karratha Health Campus

(as a relative),

My partner was in hospital a few weeks ago with an acute swollen bowel!

The surgeon thought they would operate but luckily enough antibiotics intravenously stopped the swelling and helped the bowel. But was told my partner would need further tests when fully recovered.

Three weeks later my partner had felt familiar pain and got seriously worse rapidly. They were admitted to hospital and told they need to be sent to Perth for specialist care. I was told their blood levels plummeted and they wanted them in Perth soon.

A new doctor took over on shift and made the call that antibiotics are the answer and Perth was not necessary. When I told the new doctor I thought Perth was a better option so we could get the answers of why this is happening, but was told no my partner is fine, they're not coughing up blood anymore and their blood was diluted, that’s why the haemoglobin blood count was low?

I feel all the nurses who are wonderful felt my partner needed specialist care in Perth but had to follow this doctor's call.
