"My daughter's treatment at the burns unit, PCH"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Ward 1B - Burns Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

A few months ago, my four-year-old daughter burned 3 of her toes on one foot badly on the exhaust pipe of a Quad farm bike.

Went to St John treatment centre in Edgewater.

They arranged for her to visit the Burns Unit at the Perth Children’s Hospital because the burns on her toes were quite deep.

From the first time we walked into the Burns Unit and during multiple visits between then and now, we have had tremendous service; caring, efficient and attentive medical service from Doctors, Nurses and Staff.

I cannot single out any one person; they were all wonderful!

They had great patience with my daughter who was distressed during those visits because of the pain.

They were very understanding and could empathise with myself and her.

They made her and her younger sister feel special by giving them drawing books, pencils etc on every occasion and my daughter that extra present (bubbles, plush toys, hair accessories, just to name a few).

I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful way we were cared for and looked after.

Thank you sincerely.

Dear burnspatient,

Thank you for writing to Care Opinion to share your positive experience at the Perth Children’s Hospital Burns Unit.

We acknowledge that having a sick or injured child is a very distressing time and our staff do their best to make your experience at PCH as stress free as possible.

The Child and Adolescent Health Service is a values based organisation with Compassion being one of our values. The staff at PCH are encouraged to be true to these values each and every day, and I am very happy to hear that our staff have gone above and beyond in treating your daughter.

Positive feedback such as yours is pivotal in encouraging and supporting our staff, so thank you for taking the time to let us know.

I hope your daughter is healing well and wish you and your family all the best.

Kind Regards,

Carrie Dunbar
