"Thank you to all who cared for my teenager"

About: Armadale Hospital / Colyer Surgical & Medical Ward Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My son hurt himself at a footy game recently one night. He made his own way to the Emergency department Armadale hospital later that night, and I went to meet him. When I got there 15 minutes later he was already triaged and the amazing doctor was immediately able to diagnose subcutaneous emphysema on a very small spot on his back, from a physical examination. This was backed up by ultrasound and CT, a rib fracture and a punctured lung.

The level of care from the triage staff, all the doctors, nurses and PCAs was outstanding, they were friendly professional and efficient. He was observed overnight in the Colyer ward and again I cannot thank the staff (doctors, nurses, physios) enough for the care and education they provided. We can't remember everyone's name, but my son would like to thank ED nurses Jade and Fritz and Colyer nurse Frans, and he would like to thank the physio Cassie. My most heartfelt thanks to Armadale hospital, East Metro Health Service.

Dear SUNNYDAZ3,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story regarding the excellent care your son received at the Armadale Health Service. I can only imagine what a worrying time this would have been for you as a parent, however, I am so pleased to read that our staff were able to make the experience a positive one.

We are committed at AKG to ensuring that we put patients first in all of our interactions. I am extremely proud of all our staff and their commitment to providing compassionate, quality clinical care.

We are also aware of how vital good communication is when you have a loved one in hospital and it was great to hear that our staff were able to provide this for you and your family.

It will give me great pleasure to share your experience with all the staff involved in your son’s care, they will truly appreciate your kind words.

Thank you again for getting in touch and I hope your son is recovering well.

Thank you. The doctor in ED was Jade, not the nurse! Kind regards
