I presented at my local Ed, Margaret River WA with a extremely sore finger which was crushed in a sliding door. The doctor advised me to just buddy it up and get some xrays done. I had a follow-up appt with the local GP which told me it looked fine and they could send me to Perth to get a fancy splint or just buddy it up. I agreed to buddy it up as they said the x-rays didn't show anything concerning. I presented myself to Ed about 3 weeks later for a medical examination due to DV and mentioned my finger again as it wasn't getting better, they referred me to the Hand OT at another hospital.
The lady I saw was extremely helpful and suggested I give some feedback here on my experience. The morning before I went to see her, I had another doctors appointment and received a second lot of x-rays which she found in her words "to me it looks like +30% fracture to my joint and could need surgery, no wonder it isn't healing".
I am now wearing a splint for the next 6-8weeks.
I felt let down and in my opinion, the health system in my area are very lazy and poor to pick up certain areas as based on my experience, this isn't the first time they have been useless.
"Poor services and support"
