"40 week antenatal Doctor's appointment"

About: Kununurra Hospital / Maternity Ward

(as a service user),

I had an appointment for my 40 weeks check-up with a visiting obstetrician at Kununurra District hospital. I found them very abrupt, forceful and pushy with their views and opinion. I felt I was being pushed to be induced on the obstetrician's timeframe and not what had previously been discussed.

They wanted to book me in then and there. When I requested the time frame that had previously been discussed, I believe I was made to feel stupid and irresponsible. They did not answer any of my questions and, I feel, made assumptions of pains I was asking about. I also had to specifically request a stretch and sweep procedure, it was not offered or discussed. Overall I just felt not listened to.

Hi homamcs73,

My name is Keda Bond and I am the Operations Manager at Kununurra Hospital.

The appointment that you have described sounds very frustrating and I am sorry about how the experience made you feel. We strive to provide exceptional antenatal services to our community, and I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

I would be very grateful if you could contact me on 0408944305 to organise a time to discuss the issues you have raised.

I do hope that everything is going well at this special time following the birth of your baby.

Thank-you so much for your time in writing to us.

Regards

Keda bond
