"Poor treatment"

About: Coral Bay Nursing Post

(as the patient),

I had my AstraZeneca vaccine recently. One morning last week, I went to the nursing post and I saw a staff member who didn’t even allow me to go in. They said, what’s wrong? and I said I've had severe headaches since the jab and they said it was normal and sent me away. I went back a few days later in the morning again due to dizzy spells and met Jan, who I felt went through every check with me with a fine-tooth comb.

But the first staff member I saw a few days before, treated me with I felt total disregard, to the point where I am now reluctant to go back for the second vaccine.

I found that they were totally off-hand and I believe they treat everyone like this.

Thank you for writing to us about your experience at Coral Bay Nursing Post. I was concerned to read that you felt disregarded during your first presentation to the post and am sorry that this experience has left you feeling reluctant to have your second vaccine. I was pleased to read that when you presented the second time you were well supported by Jan and appreciate you taking the time to include this in your story. Feedback like this is important as it lets us know where we have met the needs of our community and where we need to improve.

Your feedback has been provided to our staff and I would like to assure you that it is being acted upon to improve our care so that consumers feel comfortable and welcome to present with any concerns post-vaccination. I have also provided your feedback about feeling reluctant to have your second vaccination to our Public Health team.
