I came in for my second Covid vaccine. I’m a big believer in vaccination and while I have a fear of needles, I can usually handle a flu jab with little to no problem.
Coming in for my first vaccine, I thought it would be just like a flu jab. Unfortunately my anxiety was triggered by the process you have to go through and my fear really took over. I got through but it wasn’t a positive experience. Coming in for my second round my anxiety was already high just remembering my previous experience.
Sitting down for my needle was overwhelming and I told my nurse I wasn’t coping. She took me to a quieter room where she could give me the vaccine in comfort and calm, allowing me to feel less anxious and more calm. I really appreciate the care and compassion she showed and helped me feel comfortable in spite of my anxiety.
