"Triage nurse at emergency"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I presented at emergency one afternoon recently to get tested for Covid and in my opinion, the triage nurse was extremely rude.

I  thought I was doing a good thing and getting tested but, in my opinion, they made me out to feel like a nuisance. I can’t believe sick and vulnerable humans get served by this person. They made me feel worse.

Dear bravomc44,

Thank you for the time you’ve taken to share your feedback on Geraldton Health Campus.

Please accept my sincere apologies that your experience through the emergency department was not in line with our commitment to kind, compassionate and patient-centred care.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a stressful time for all of us and we want everyone to feel safe and welcome when they present for testing.

While I have already spoken with the relevant staff to ensure your important feedback is acted on, I would also like to make myself available should you wish to discuss your concerns with me directly. I am available on 9956 2369.

Thank you for doing the right thing by getting tested when you were symptomatic and my apologies once again.

Kind regards,

Derek

Operations Manager, Geraldton Hospital
