My child had an appointment booked recently the paediatric clinic for a medical reason. I was originally quite impressed with the service, I was phoned within 2 weeks of the referral being received and had an appointment booked within 6-7 weeks from the referral being received.
In the afternoon of the day before the appointment, I was phoned to say the clinic was being cancelled and my child has been rescheduled to more than a month later (my partner and I had both arranged to take time off of work to attend the appointment).
The GP who referred my child reported the appointment would be considered a high priority. From the referral to the date of the next scheduled appointment is over 12 weeks which to me, seems excessive for a high priority appointment. I am very disappointed with my child having to wait this long to be seen by a paediatrician for a reason that I understand to be considered to be a high priority.
