I had a booking at the Town Hall for my second AstraZeneca vaccine.
My first vaccine was administered in Melbourne a few months ago. I had my second vaccine booked, for more recently, which by my calculations was exactly 12 weeks after my first vaccine.
I arrived on time and checked in as per procedures before entering the Wonthaggi Town Hall. I stopped at the front desk and showed the staff member my Medicare Immunisation History Statement. They then advised that a second dose could not be administered that day as it was not exactly 12 weeks since my first vaccine. They looked at their calendar to count the weeks.
I was so embarrassed by the prospect of making a mistake in my calculations that I quietly left. I have since recalculated the weeks and can confirm that 12 weeks have indeed elapsed.
Given that the Prime Minister no less is urging people to be vaccinated at intervals less than those recommended, I find the way I was dealt very strange. I intended to re-present as a walk-in, and if needs be, I intend to argue the case. I think it is important that your service receives my feedback on my experience.
