On Saturday recently, my son sustained breaks through the Radius and Ulnar of his left arm. We attended Busselton Health Campus ED where he was well looked after by all the staff on that day. They spent a lot of time with my son helping him work through his developmental issues so that some treatment could occur. The end result was an attempt at a reset of the bones and cast applied. The staff then made arrangements for my son to be seen at Bunbury Hospital surgical services unit to have the bones reset under general anaesthetic.
Early Sunday evening we received a call from Cameron at Bunbury Hospital. He asked us to take our son in on Monday morning to have the procedure done under GA. We attended as planned, the arm was reset and our son was cared for and released by Monday night.
I can not say how grateful my wife and I are for all the care, comfort, support and genuine humanity we received from all the staff we interacted with. From the Busselton ED staff, Bunbury Hospital volunteers, Day Surgery unit clerk, anaesthetist team, nurses, doctors, PCAs and the Paediatric ward staff. They made my son feel valued, listened to and safe. This made me happy, confident and relaxed knowing that my son was in great hands.
