"Tongue-tie issues w breastfeeding"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Breastfeeding Centre of WA

(as a service user),

I have issues breastfeeding w my two girls (3y & 6w), they both had tongue tie! The centre gave me all support & education to thrive on my breastfeeding journey from referring to get them accessed to borrowing the pump & all support & education about attachment & soar nipples!

If I was not recommended to them by my midwife with my first, I’d probably have given up on breastfeeding! But I was lucky to get to now & my first one was breastfed up to 1.5years!

I just had my last appointment with my second one, now six weeks old! Left confident that I will be able to do the same!

Thanks for that! Really appreciate it.

Dear marstr95,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Breastfeeding Centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

Breastfeeding can sometimes be challenging, especially in cases such as yours where baby has a tongue-tie, but with determination and perseverance along with the individual attention of our Lactation Consultants (LC), we aim to empower and support women to enjoy the experience of breastfeeding.

We are very proud of our staff in the Breastfeeding Centre and the service they provide. Our staff are committed to this service and this is a true testament of the collaborative approach with baby and mother to achieve such positive results.

Thank you once again for your feedback. I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards

Jodi Graham
