"Birth experience with midwife"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had a difficult birth with an unexpected induction. I was very distressed and in the worst pain I've ever experienced while I was on the way to the labour ward.

However, I felt relieved when my regular midwife Katy arrived at the ward. Her reassurance and instructions from her familiar voice made me feel more at ease. I'm grateful for having been in the care of a very kind midwife who I felt gave me evidence-based advice and information during pregnancy and labour.

Dear avovetxs54,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience with the Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS).

I am sorry to read that your birth did not go to plan and that you were distressed as a result of the unexpected induction and difficult birth. However, I was pleased to read you received the care you needed to support you through your labour and the birth of your baby. Our staff strive to provide our patients and their families with support to achieve positive outcomes during their pregnancy journey, particularly when birthing plans are changed unexpectedly, such as your experience.

WNHS is incredibly proud of the maternity care that is provided by our staff and the way they work with our patients to achieve positive outcomes.

Thank you once again for providing your feedback. I will be sure to send your appreciative comments to Katy.

Kind regards

Jodi Graham
