"A beautiful soul"

About: Plantagenet Cranbrook Health Service (Aged Care)

(as a relative),

My grandfather of 73 years of age recently passed away at home under palliative care. It has been a really difficult time, and an even shorter time with grandad since we were told his diagnosis and how little time we had left.

It wasn’t enough time to tell him everything, but it was enough time to tell him the most important things before he continued onto his next chapter. Grandad was never one to enjoy being fussed over, or one for liking hospitals, and boy did he let his palliative nurse know this fact.

Not only did the kindest, understanding, and most gentle soul Tracey take all of this into her stride, she bent over backwards in a hard time to care not only for her patient but for her patient's family. You made an overwhelming situation seem less of a mountain and more of a chance to sit and reminisce. There is just not the right words to explain how deeply grateful and humbled we are for all of your help, your care, your kindness and your compassion. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you again one day on the wards. ❤️

Dear augustmr58,

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about the care you and your family received at a time when you are grieving for your grandfather.

Your gracious and heart-warming story about the care your Grandfather and your family received from Tracey, Palliative care Clinical Nurse, has been shared with her and all health staff in the Great Southern. It was lovely to hear that Tracey was able to assist your family during this difficult time in such a positive way.

We consistently strive for compassionate, family centered care at the end of life so we are grateful to you for letting us know that this was achieved for your family.

Our condolences to you and your family at this time.

Kind regards,

Kathy Butler Clinical Nurse Palliative Care Service, and

Julie Hollingworth & Director of Nursing/Health Service Manager WACHS Great Southern
