"Having a cardiac episode at Kalbarri"

About: Kalbarri Health Centre Royal Flying Doctor Service Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Coronary Care Unit (CCU) G42 St John Ambulance WA

(as the patient),

I was having pain in all the right places for a heart attack so I attended the Kalbarri Hospital with the help of the Kalbarri Police officers. I was immediately diagnosed by Dr Andy and nurses Michelle and Janice and treatment was commenced. Contact was made with SCGH (Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital) Cardiologist and when stabilised I was transferred by St Johns Ambulance (Kalbarri) to the RFDS (Royal Flying Doctors Service) plane that was dispatched from Jandakot.

I arrived and was monitored overnight at SCGH ward g4. 2 and went into surgery in the morning for a stent insertion. All went well and I was discharged home on a weekend in the afternoon. None of this would have been possible without the care and dedication of all of the staff involved in the incident both in Kalbarri and in Perth and the care received during the travel between. I literally owe you all my life. Thank you all from the bottom of my mended heart.

Dear Speedycpz6954,

Thank you so much for sharing your healthcare experiences in response to your heart attack identified in Kalbarri.

It would have been very stressful and frightening to suffer chest pains and then be transported across the country away from loved ones, in order to receive treatment.

Your description of the care you received across healthcare providers is a great example of collaboration within the Western Australia healthcare system that meets the needs of our country patients.

The Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital staff will be pleased to receive acknowledgement of their care and dedication.

I wish you a long and healthy life with your mended heart.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
