"Birth of my son"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We had our firstborn, a healthy baby boy this month. We were in the catchment for King Edward and able to take part in the midwife program - what a blessing this was!

From the outset we had a wonderful midwife who was very informative, supportive, friendly, super knowledgeable (and calm) and always willing to answer any questions we had (even all the ridiculous ones). Being able to phone the on-call midwife at any time was unbelievably valuable for us as well. This support continued throughout the pregnancy making me feel confident and as ready as you can be to give birth.

When the actual birth came along, we could not have asked for a better experience - our midwife was exceptional and the other staff we saw at King Edward were equally as supportive, informative and professional. Underpinning the entire experience was a strong drive by all the staff to ensure I was kept well informed and able to make decisions that aligned with both my wishes and the health of our baby. This gave me huge reassurance that the right things were happening and that I had a say in this very important and life changing experience.

As a first time mum I can’t rate the midwife program and the team at King Edward highly enough. Both my partner and I agree it was the best medical experience either of us have ever had.

Dear pilingske76,

Congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your first baby, how wonderful to have a healthy baby boy! Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience with the Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS).

I am so pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with our Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) model of care, and it is lovely to hear that you received the care and continuity you needed to support you through your pregnancy and the birth of your son.

WNHS is incredibly proud of the maternity care that is provided by our staff and the way they work with our patients to achieve positive outcomes during the pregnancy and birthing journey.

Once again, thank you for providing us with this great feedback. I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards,

Jodi Graham
