"Birth of my child"

About: Collie Hospital / Maternity and Delivery

(as the patient),

I felt the doctors, midwives and other hospital staff at the Collie Hospital were so accommodating to my situation, as I was unable to have a natural birth and had to have an emergency caesarean. I was very lucky to be able to have it in Collie because, as I understand it, most have to be sent through to Bunbury.

It would be amazing if Collie Hospital would be able to get more funding to help provide more wonderful services and to purchase new updated equipment so that rural people can get the same services that I believe would be in a hospital in a larger city/town.

Dear coinnd87,

Your feedback is wonderful to receive. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your positive birth experience at Collie hospital with the Collie Midwifery Group Practice, GP obstetricians and other hospital staff. Experiencing a safe and satisfying birth of your baby is the ultimate goal and it is wonderful that you could receive this close to home.

Your recent experience is directly the result of seed funding that has been granted by the WA health department to implement Midwifery Group Practices in the South West Inland. As a result, in Collie we have now a fantastic team of six experienced and compassionate midwives who are supported by two very skilled and supportive GP Obstetricians, all with the shared commitment of keeping birth safe and close to home.

Additionally Collie has been granted $12.2 million dollars to redevelop the operating theatre. This will ensure a state of the art operating theatre suite including all new equipment.

Feedback like yours affirms that we are heading in the right direction to meet the needs of local families so thank you again for taking the time in and amongst the busy life of parenting.

Kind regards,

Abbey Rodda

Update posted by coinnd87 (the patient)

It was helpful, but I was referring to the maternity ward receiving funding for new equipment also.
