I took my child to Harvey ED which, in my opinion, is reputed for being useless. I felt a specific nurse acted like my child needing to use a wheelchair was personally going to come out of their pay packet.
Before even getting past the waiting room, I recall the seemingly usual statement that if we don’t want Panadol, we may as well go home was said by the specific nurse who I believe is horrid, which I feel always triggers my child's anxiety.
After all the staff who we dealt with referring to my child as the wrong gender due to their haircut despite my child's chart stating they are in fact this gender, my child was eventually seen by a Dr who I remember said they felt as I did that it was most likely just a headache and I recall they used the words that I can give you a needle or stick Panadol up ya bum to which I believe my child got very distressed.
In my opinion, all children should be treated with compassion and care, but also how about asking if there’s reasons for a child’s particular behaviour, for example autism ADHD and anxiety? Or a traumatic experience maybe?
Based on my experience, the specific nurse was once again showing their absolute lack of care and ineptitude. It seems to me that with the amount of complaints against this nurse, how do they still have a job?
