"Everything we could have hoped for"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We were accepted into the Midwifery Group Practice program at KEMH for the birth of our first baby.

From day one, I found that the care was exceptional. I felt the midwives were extremely knowledgeable, organised, and always easy to contact. As I understand it, their model of care is minimal intervention which suited us down to the ground. We never once felt pressured to do anything we didn't want to do. They gave us all the information we wanted and we were free to make our own choices. We felt totally empowered and in control of our choices. Throughout the experience, the midwives did an amazing job of informing us of our options which ultimately allowed us to have the birth we'd hoped for - a natural birth with the support of our main midwife.

It was everything we could have hoped for and I truly cannot recommend their model of care more. We will definitely be applying to them for our next birth!

Dear attendantcy65,

Thank you for your response and for taking the time to share your experience on the Care Opinion Australia website and congratulations on the birth of your first child.

It was lovely to read of the exceptional care you received through the Midwifery Group Practice programme at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and that you felt empowered to make decisions throughout your pregnancy and birth of your baby. Our staff are committed to providing our patients with the best health care possible in an environment where patients feel encouraged to advocate for their health and the health of their baby and it is wonderful to hear you felt this was the case.

Thank you once again for your feedback. I will be sure to pass on thanks to all staff involved in your care from our Midwifery Group Practice programme.

Yours sincerely

Jodi Graham
