I absolutely loved the model of care used at King Eddy's MGP4. I had never heard of this approach before and cannot speak highly enough of it. This was my first baby and I was absolutely clueless of what to expect. I was all sorts of nervous and having the same midwife at all the antenatal appointments gave me great continuity of care and reassurance.
Unfortunately, that same midwife wasn't at the delivery but I believe this is quite uncommon and let's be honest...they need days off too! Nevertheless, the midwife that stepped in was just as wonderful and was her allocated buddy so I was already known to her. I was then followed up for 5 consecutive days once going home and they were mostly with my original midwife. I cannot explain how useful and comforting these visits were, I feel I couldn't have gone on without them.
I hope my story encourages other hospitals to adopt this model of care because I would recommend it to anyone whether it be their first or 10th child!
"A great journey from start to finish for my first baby"
