"Abuse given by security"

About: Bunbury Mental Health

(as the patient),

I am not happy with the result that two security guards badly bruised my upper arms by holding them for what I felt was a couple of minutes. I am sick and tired of people having some sort of title that it seems to me they can abuse and do damage to patients.

This is not the first time it’s happened. I recall it’s happened at other hospitals and even a police officer fracturing one of my bones. Not happy, in my opinion, the hospital could at least do more staff monitoring to make sure this does not happen again.

Dear Spudz,

Thank you for providing us with this feedback. We are so sorry that you were injured by security staff while you were in our care. I am very concerned that this has happened to you. We would like to assure you that we take any injury to patients very seriously and are reviewing this incident. We will make sure that we improve how we manage our patients to prevent any injuries to anyone in the future. We are also in the process of addressing your formal complaint and will respond in writing when that investigation is completed. Again, we are sorry that you had this experience.

In the meantime, if you would like to discuss your concerns, I would be happy to speak with you as well. Please give me a call on 9781 2373.

Yours sincerely

Debbie Easther
