"COVID procedure"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Outpatients & Day Treatment

(as the patient),

Had appointment for a set time. Was screened prior and told I will need a RAT test before being admitted. Turned up to hospital 15 minutes early to take RAT test via Emergency entrance as directed. Was not RAT tested and was sent straight through to outpatients department where I received my infusion.

I was then sent away from outpatients back to ED to take RAT test. Sat and waited for ages in ED. Eventually got my negative result and got to my appointment, over an hour late. This not only had affected my day, but I had a baby who was being minded while I attended so had to organise extra cover, but it put the nurses under even more stress due to their schedules being pushed back. It seemed I also was able to enter the hospital against COVID procedure. Didn't we just have 2 years to prepare for this?

Dear jivehy94,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this experience and I apologise that the screening process for entry to the hospital for a booked appointment did not follow procedure and caused further delays.

This should not have occurred and I would like to better understand what has transpired with further detail if possible please? Would you mind contacting me on 9144 7639 alternatively on email Liam.Avery@health.wa.gov.au to discuss?

Regards,

Liam Avery Operations Manager West Pilbara WACHS
