"Excellent care"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Surgical Services

(as a carer),

Recently, my wife and I attended the Day Surgery Unit at Karratha Health Campus in Western Australia.

We live in Exmouth and have to travel to Karratha every 28 days for IVIG for my wife's Lymphoma Treatment as I understand this relatively simple treatment is not available at Exmouth health services.

We've been traveling from Exmouth to Karratha for at least the last 4 years.

All the Day Unit staff who I dealt with are very proficient and skillful and always make you feel like you are their only patient in the world.

We'd like here to personally acknowledge the professional skill and patient comforting skill of Tracey, Bridie and Sue and also a special mention to the Day Care Units "new" specialist Nurse Heidi who was on her first day and I felt certainly showed that she's in no way over awed and seemed to me to have the tasks and skills required to be a great addition to the Karratha Health Campus's Day Care Unit Team.

Thank you for the opportunity to offer this shout out to the great team at Karratha Health Campus.

Dear inspireye55,

I appreciate the time taken to share not only the recent experience for your wife's treatment at Karratha Health Campus, Day Surgery Unit and also the history to her treatments.

The complexities for delivering rural health care can be difficult at times, I would like to acknowledge the considerable distance traveled by you both every twenty-eight days for the last four years!

It is wonderful to hear our nurses made you feel like you were their only patient and they provided professionalism and comfort to your wife. It is great to receive such feedback and I will happily pass this on to the clinial team.

Perhaps your wife or yourself may wish to speak with me further about the travel requirement for treatment, I would be happy to see if I can further assist in any way? My name is Liam Avery and I am the Operations Manager for West Pilbara, you can contact me via phone on (08) 9144 7639 or by email Liam.Avery@health.wa.gov.au

Kind regards,

Liam Avery
